Hazel Holloway knows all great romances begin with friendship—and she’s spent years waiting for her best friend to realize it...

For years, she’s been head-over-heels for her best friend, Daniel—a man who’s made it abundantly clear that love isn’t on the table. Still, Hazel clings to the hope that one day their story will turn into the "friends to lovers" love story she’s always dreamed of.

But when she agrees to tag along on Daniel’s work trip to Antalya, Turkey during Christmas, Hazel’s carefully crafted plan for her future starts to unravel. Enter Oliver: Daniel’s charming, easygoing colleague, who immediately sees Hazel for who she truly is. From late-night conversations under twinkling lights to spontaneous adventures along the Mediterranean coast, Oliver makes Hazel question everything she thought she wanted.

This holiday season, Hazel discovers that sometimes the love story you’ve been waiting for doesn’t come from the person you’ve been waiting on.

Warm, witty, and full of holiday cheer, Christmas by the Sea is a feel-good romantic comedy about finding love where you least expect it.

Hazel sipped her matcha latte, trying not to look directly across the table where her brother was leaning over to whisper into his new girlfriend’s ear. Jack and Claire—Claire Davis, she reminded herself, still stunned that one of her favorite authors was sitting in her favorite cafe with her—had settled into a comfortable, if not sickeningly sweet, relationship after a whirlwind international romance the previous Christmas. It was simultaneously easy to be around them because they were two of her favorite people and the sort of uncomfortable that she was never able to hide on her too expressive face.

“Jack, stop. She’s grimacing again.” Claire pushed Jack back into his chair, clicking her tongue at him. “Hazel is never going to want to do anything with us if you can’t learn to keep your hands to yourself.”

“Considering that I grew up with him…well, good luck teaching him that lesson.” Hazel winced at her own words. “I…that sounded creepy. I just meant that he was the actual king of crossing the imaginary line in the car and holding a finger, like, a quarter of an inch from my eyeball, the whole time insisting he wasn’t touching me.”

“This is true,” Jack admitted. “I’ve been told to keep my hands to myself approximately since the day Hazel was born.” He picked Claire’s hand up from the table and kissed the back of her knuckles. “But if anyone can finally teach me, it’ll be you.” He looked over Claire’s hand to his little sister. “She’s that good.”

“I know she’s good.” Hazel grumbled the words with more aggression than she felt. “I’ve been reading her words longer than you’ve been hearing them.”

“Now, now, my dear Holloways.” Claire took her hand back from Jack, then gave them each a stern look in turn. “Can we all just get along? Can the two of you resist the urge to snipe at each other at least long enough for us to drink our coffees?”
